Gudauri is a modern and fast-growing winter sports resort located in the Kazbegi region of Georgia, approximately 120 km north of Tbilisi, at an altitude of around 2,200 meters near the Jvari (Cross) Pass. Known for its wide, open slopes and reliable snow conditions, Gudauri offers excellent opportunities for skiing and snowboarding from December through April, with occasional freeride and ski touring possible in May, depending on snow levels.
The resort features over 70 kilometers of marked and prepared ski runs, suitable for all skill levels—from beginners to professionals. Most slopes are above the tree line, offering panoramic views and freeride terrain. Night skiing is available on selected slopes during weekends.
Gudauri has a total of 15 lifts, including:
-
4 gondola lifts (including the Kobi-Gudauri lift, linking the resort to the Kobi Valley),
-
7 chairlifts (ranging from 3- to 6-seaters),
-
4 surface lifts (including beginner areas with SunKid and J-bar lifts).
The base lift station is at about 1,990 meters, and the highest accessible point is Sadzele Peak at 3,276 meters, offering long descents and off-piste opportunities. Most main routes are equipped with snow-making systems and grooming is done regularly.
Heli-skiing is available throughout the winter, providing access to untouched powder in the surrounding Greater Caucasus Mountains.
Discounted ski passes are available for youth up to age 18. The resort also offers beginner slopes, a snow park, and ski schools.
Lifts typically operate from 10:00 to 16:00, though schedules can change depending on weather conditions. In case of strong winds or poor visibility, some lifts may be temporarily closed.
